Happy Halloween!

I am a party pooper with no costume today. Here is a pumpkin courtesy of Frank and Patty. Mom - I would guess this is Dad's?! He's always been the most enthusiastic family member when it comes to carving pumpkins.

I'd like to hear from everyone about their most favorite Halloween costume. The one I remember most is the California Raisin. This wasn't any store bought cheesey thing. My mom constructed a gi-normous velvety costume with a little hole for my face. All of the wrinkles were painstakingly sewn. I had a painted paper towel tube with a silver foam ball for a microphone. The costume was perfect down to the Hamburger Helper gloves. The most creative costume I ever thought of on my own was 6th grade when I had a very short haircut - I was a pregnant man.

Speaking of holidays - I received a belated birthday present from Amber. Yes, I consider my birthday a holiday!

The card is a riot. No Amber, I love the rectal exams!
I am looking forward to reading the book because I've heard lots of great reviews on knitting podcasts. I have a few projects picked out to start knitting.

This baby kimono is adorable.

Dishcloths would be a nice change from washcloths.. if I can find some nicer cotton to work with.

The nightgown I'm not so sure about. Brian humors my knitting, but I don't think he finds it sexy.

One of my favorite Halloweens was when Chuck and I went to a costume party as Gomez and Mortisha. We won 1st prize. I slicked Chuck's hair and I wore a LOOONG black wig and black dress and of course had a rose for my mouth! "Don't torture yourself Gomez, that's my job!"

David was the pope one year, and as he sat at Bishop McKinney's dinning room chair, told the Bishop that he was his boss when Bishop asked who he was supposed to be! He was 8 at the time. Pretty sharp!

Brian made his own spaceman outfit one year that was incredible!

Jeffrey once made an adorable cheerleader - his idea, not mine!

I might have two costumes, Punky Brewster and Annie (although that wig was so itchy). I remember the pregnant man, very creative that year. Well we were successful in missing all of the kids this year, I think we got home right at 8:00. No big kids to ruin our Halloween this time. I don't think Cayman was so happy though with all of the kids. One of these years we'll get back into the Halloween spirit (hopefully with little ones). Loved the pumpkins Mom and Dad, and your costumes were GREAT!

I had some kickass costumes growing up. Merlin the Wizard, the Headless horseman, the Spaceman--all handmade by mom.

I probably would've won an award form the Jaycees Halloween party for the spaceman, but they said it was too dangerous. Something about seeing out of the small opening in the mask I made from a five gallon ice cream bucket.

grown ups suck.

I think mine was the year my mom dressed me up as a devil and sent me trick or treating at church....Whoops!

Glad you liked the book and card Angie! Happy birthday 6 months late! :)

PS Isn't that knit lingerie sexy? :)

Hey Ang! Brian remembers his mom worked hard on those costumes! Incredibly, the spaceman was pulled together through mostly his fantastic ideas! Yeah Bri, grown ups do suck and they did at that party too!

I think that "lingerie" would be the perfect gift for Merdith's bachelorette party.
