I can't believe my baby is almost three weeks old! We're getting to know each other better every day. We're definitely not on a schedule, but we do have a routine, so it makes it easier to know what she needs. The nights are peaceful and I don't dread them like I did when I was pumping. I get up with her about every 4 hours for 45 minutes. It feels calm and serene knowing the world is sleeping around us.
Yesterday, Brian's cousin, Rachael, and her bf, Steve, visited. Rachael brought Charlotte's completed hat and sweater set. This was her first hat and sweater. She was committed to making them perfect and she really did! Rach - we tried the sweater on her after you left and it fits great right now. She wore it to church last night and was cute as a button.

Awe!!!!!! She is SO adorable!! Pink is definitely her color :) I'm so glad it fits right now and that you guys like it!! I can relax now after 5 months of "knitting my first sweater." I still have some yarn left, so I still plan on making the baby socks (good sock practice) to match before she grows out of the outfit! (As soon as i finish the socks i started for me like a year ago ;) haha)
OMG! Charlotte looks like a little princess =) OK - I pledge to start knitting once school is over. I really want to knit Matthew a ski hat for next winter. Any recommendations for books or classes to take?

Yeah Rach, you inspired Jacqueline! I learned with the help of the book "Stitch n' Bitch," which has great tutorials.
Jacqueline-I learned by the book Stitch and Bitch too, originally bought for my mom but then i picked it up. (Thanks to Angie and Brian's recommendation) I then took a class or two at a local yarn shop here in GR. Seriously, it's a great stress reliever (unless you have a deadline--ha) and fun because you get something cute when you are done :) It's like a chain reaction---Ang inspires Rach who inspires J, who's next??!! :)
That is her first knitting project? With that fancy lace work down the sleeves? WOW! It looks very cozy.
I definitely do NOT want my sweater (if I ever get it fixed), side-by-side with Rachael's! Give yourself a big High Five Rach - you did an awesome job! I do like your yarn pick better than my choice. Your finished project is so much cleaner looking!
It wasn't my first project, just my first sweater/baby project/actual wearable--other than mittens or a felted bag :) I used size 3 and 4 needles with cotton yarn so it was really tiny stitching that showed every flaw. That's part of why it took so long. When i steamed and blocked it it--It made the "cleaner" look. Aunt Patty, hang in there, you'll get yours done and it will be beautiful! :)
lol Oh, the fancy lace work is actually even increasing up the sleeve. That's how particular the yarn is, you see the increases. I didn't like it at first, i thought I was doing them wrong, so they were ripped out a few times, then as I realized i was doing them right and I got the whole thing done i liked the look because of how they are spaced part. it added to it's uniqueness and just looked cute :)
