Economic stimulus

April has been an excessive spending month. After all of my birthday events, putting new shingles on the roof, 3 month pics for Charlotte, the Carter's warehouse sale and a junior league fundraiser, I feel like my debit card is on fire. I think we have our own economic stimulus package! Brian and I are taking a challenge in May to drastically limit spending. This means no entertainment or restaurants. No new clothes (or yarn for that matter). Our only downfall will be my conference in San Diego at the end of the month. Anyone want to join us and make a friendly competition out of it? We can see who can live off beans and rice for the longest!

Oh I'm there! Does the winner get a bag of rice and beans?

Alright - let's play the game from May 1-22. See who can spend the least amount of money on groceries/restaurant/entertainment/clothing. Utilities/mortgage/daycare are not included. I have to exclude the money I spend on groceries for the baptism BBQ, though.
How about the winner gets a bottle of wine, since we both have enough wine in our "stash" to gift one?
Anyone else want to play?

Ohhh I would lose for sure...my eyes always lose the battle at the grocery store. Although, FYI Meijer has been giving out some AWESOME coupons. We just used one -"$10 off your purchase of $100 or more." And - is the competition ending on May 22 b/c your trip is at the end of the month? Seems like there are a lot of qualifiers in your favor. JK ;)

Yes, I do get a lot of exceptions. I guess "rice and beans" wouldn't be bad in San Diego, but I don't think my baptism BBQ would be complete with PB&J.

Wait, what about the Tulip Festival? Does this mean you're not going to go?

I'm going to the festival - but that doesn't cost any more money than a elephant ear or corndog.

Count me in too! Glad you've excluded the baptism also! We're going to have GOOD cake! Mmmm! I also have a Meijer coupon to use. Too bad I don't enjoy shopping there all that well. Maybe that will help with my buying splurges. I find myself shopping when I'm hungry too - that's BAD!
