Be Our Guest

I am wiped out. I literally dragged myself off of the couch after an hour nap to post. Why am I wiped out you ask? Chris and Ben came to visit this weekend (my sister and brother-in-law) along with their pooch, Cayman.

I dragged them to a number of activities around West Michigan. We had lunch at the Blue Moon in Douglas. This restaurant was decorated beautifully and had a delicious, eclectic menu. I think it would have been more fun at night, so I'll have to go back. I took them to our favorite local winery, Fenn Valley, and we came home with some of this. That just screams "Summer," doesn't it?

Other sights of the day, downtown Holland, the 8th Street Farmer's Market, and of course - Big Red. We Krawczyk's have a thing for lighthouses.

Another thing big sis Krawczyk enjoys - tourism. She did her job in supporting the local shops this weekend.

Sunday we'd planned on a beach day (which would've been far more relaxing) but a cloudy sky forced a change in plans. That's okay, because it forced me to find a few Holland walking trails. They were beautiful. For sand, forest and killer thigh workout, check out the Sanctuary Woods Preserve.

For the sweet smell of wildflowers and an easy, meandering walk, try VanRaalte Farm Park.

Now I know I should be unpacking boxes or picking weeds from our growing jungle outdoors, but I think the best I'll do for the rest of today is lift a pair of knitting needles.

How was everyone else's weekend?

So glad you enjoyed your weekend with Chris and Ben!!! Are they as exhausted as you?!

We lounged at the cottage this weekend of course. Aunt Mary and I floated on rafts in the lake yesterday. She went home early to cook Uncle Jim some dinner. They came up together today, but the clouds and some rain drove them indoors for lots of chatter with Uncle Ron. He was in a mood for politics today! I think that exhausted Mary! Before we knew it, they were heading home for spaghetti she had fixed. And we had about 15 ears of corn!

I spent the last four days from the Wifely Wife in Chicago for the annual Lollapalooza music festival.

It was pretty awesome. Heard/saw dozens of bands, many of which are my favorites, including The New Pornographers, Mates of State, Feist, The Flaming Lips, Gnarls Barkley, Built to Spill, Wilco... the list goes on.

The best part is I got to spend it with the Chicago boys and friends Michael and Kara. It was an absolute blasty, but I'm definitely ready to come home to Ang.

We had a good time at the Coast Guard Festival. We did it all the parade, Carnival and fireworks at night which were fantastic. Saw lots of family and are now ready to relax again. Also found a few minutes to work on my sock.

We all had a great time, and can you believe that I did still mow the lawn and plant flowers yesterday! We missed you Brian :(, but will definately be coming out again, that is if you will have us again :-) Cayman already misses all the squirrels she saw in your backyard and being able to be FREE from a leash. The house is great, you have done such a great job with it already!

We too had a good weekend although not nearly as exciting as everyone elses. We went swimming, to church, and played Phase 10 with some friends. Next weekend though...we get to hang out with Kim and Gary! No knitting this weekend...I am a serious knitting slacker lately!

We had our family's baby shower for Sarah--my last shower of the summer. Then Gary and I actually relaxed all day on Sunday. We did nothing!
