Be There!

Tonight is the night. Get your popcorn and your cozy p.j.'s. Dancing with the Stars begins tonight on ABC at 8 pm. Unfortunately, I have a Junior League meeting, but thanks to TiVo, I will watch the premiere at my convenience (and speed right past commercials). As for predictions - I can't make any just yet. I expect Mario Lopez and Harry Hamlin to do well, but I don't think either of them will be the favorite for their personalities. We'll see.

Brian and I were discussing the new line up. We're interested in our old favorites - Lost, House, How I Met Your Mother, Desperate Housewives, CSI and ER. We fell in love with Grey's Anatomy after watching reruns this summer. New shows on our list to check out - Studio 60 and Heroes. I know what you're thinking and yes, we are addicted to TV. However, with TiVo we get the pleasure of watching it when we want - which makes it the greatest invention ever...well maybe not the greatest but you know.

Thanks for your anniversary well wishes. Brian surprised me with a beautiful bouquet. Till Midnight turned out to be a fantastic restaurant with unique and delicious foods. It stood up to the classy restaurants of Chicago at a fraction of the price. I hope to go back soon.

I tried really hard to like How I Met Your Mother. OK, that's not true - I just watched the first two episodes. It was just really hard for me to get into. Not sure why.

We set our Season Pass for Dancing With The Stars last night. And since Carrie just had her first dance lesson yesterday, I'm sure she'll have an all new perspective on these shows ;)

Everyone's talking about Heroes. I keep forgetting to set the recording for it.

I'm looking forward to 30 Rock, but I also think Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin are both really funny folks (for very different reasons).

And, of course, our household is looking forward to the new season of Gilmore Girls.

The reason I like 'How I Met Your Mother' are three-fold.

First, the chicks are hot and the dudes are funny.

Second, it's pretty awesome to watch a show with people who talk the same way you and your friends do.

Finally, Neil Patrick Harris will play me in my autobiographical TV mini-series, "The Things I Think I Know."

It's true.

Ahhhhh Brian is a hopeless romantic. So glad he turned out that way.

I will be glued to Dancing With the Stars!!! I've been looking forward to some good tv for a long time. Anxiously await the season openner for ER. I wasn't sure about the cliffhanger. Did Abby go into labor? Was she shot? So many unanswered questions!!??

Dad and I watched Path for two nights. Found it nerve wracking yet unbiased. We think it painted a pretty clear picture how messed up our national security really is or was. Madeleine Albright came off as a genuine B---- to the nth degree! John O'Neill was on his way to real hero status. Final word, be vigilante!

So glad you finally hopped on the Gray's Anatomy train. I've only watched season 1 on DVD and Season 2 comes out today so I may hibernate for the next month and watch that along with Season 2 of Lost which came out last week. We do not have TiVo or anything like it, but instead are spending our life savings watching everything on DVD. It is still nice to have the convenience of no commercials and watching when we want. Probably more frustrating than Tivo though b/c the video store is sometimes out of what we want (like disc 4 of LOST..argh!).

"Dancing" was ok, but I had to watch House. House is awesome.

Amber, get Netflix. They have literally EVERY show and it comes right to your mailbox, so you can skip the video store.

You can rent as many as you want/month and hold onto the discs for as long as you want.

It's infinitely cheaper and more convenient if you're doing a lot of video renting.

Here's a book for our Junior League member Angie:

The Devil in the Junior League by Linda Francis Lee. Marie Claire calls it "a hilarious look at the world of backstabbing Texas socialites." Is Angie a Holland socialite?

Gray's Anatomy is the BEST. I am so glad they moved it to 9:00 Thursday because I was starting my week off tired to stay up and watch it.

Have you watched your tivo version of Dancing? I voted on line the maximum allowed and I mixed up my votes, giving a couple to Emmit, a couple to Harry etc., even one to Mario Lopez. It was a great night and I shocked myself how caught up I got with their routines!

OK, I watched the show(s) tonight. Mario was surprisingly adorable. Harry seems like he'd be a snoozer in the bedroom. Willa Ford was definitely charismatic...and I thought Vivica needed to get over herself. I didn't get to vote this time - but next week for sure!

Ang, I totally agree Vivica Fox seemed to love herself just a tad too much. I did not like her. But I thought Mario Lopez was really fun too watch even though his personality was a bit boring. And I really was surprised by how much I liked Emmitt Smith. He was really cute. And Joey Laurence was just plain scary with his shaved head. My favorite girl is Monique Coleman. I think she is adorable! I heart this show.
